Bay bridge sure wasn't "fixed" today! I spent 5 1/2 hours sitting in traffic, for what SHOULD have been a 2 hour drive :( Hope it's better tomorrow, because Chris leaves on another mission, and I've gotta do it all in reverse.

I read the entire thread, and I see both points of view. I've only been pulled over a couple of times in my life, but if they ask to look, I know I've got nothing to hide. The search usually takes 2 minutes and I'm on my way (since I'm driving a pickup, not a MOHO). I guess if I was traveling in a MOHO and know (now) that MOHOs are favorite transport vehicles for drugs, I might make it more difficult for him to make MY day more difficult. I would think a simple sweep by a narcotic/explosives dog would suffice.
Pulling out a sandwich and a lawn chair seems perfect. In fact, if he got thirsty while waiting for his warrant, I'd offer him a drink of water while he waited. I've got two flavors.. Gray and Black. :B
Hmmm....I wonder if you'd feel the same, if we were stuck on the side of the road for hours on end, on a hot day, when you had to be back at the base to sign off of leave, all the while, watching as the cops tore up your NEW TT on their wild goose chase? As Scott said, once you say OK, it's not like you can change your mind, part way through it and say they've had enough time, and you'll be on your way. I also doubt that Mr. Policeman would be so accommodating, letting you off with a warning, if you refused his request for a search, which is what makes it such a dilemma.
You always see stuff on T.V. shows, where the cops tear through people's homes, leaving a HUGE mess behind, whether they find what they're looking for, or not. I always wondered who was responsible for cleaning up that mess, and repairing the damage, but I'm guessing that it's the homeowner.

Wow...interesting topic! Sure gives us all something to think about... Guess it's just one of those things you don't even THINK about, until it's too late, then you kick yourself for NOT thinking of it earlier.
I like the idea that one of the posters mentioned, of having some of the RV magazines print an article with motorists rights. With as much driving as RV'ers do, it would be nice to have clearcut advice, since the laws in each state, and even each jurisdiction, seem to vary so wildly.

Heavy rain and storms last night in VA, too, but BOY, did we need it :) We were even under a tornado warning, for awhile, but nothing ever came of it, thank goodness! Today, it's MUCH less humid, cooler temps, and a nice breeze. Guess I'll spend the afternoon catching up on yard work :)

I also had a problem with their rates... $65 a day for a parking spot is a bit outside my limits. Their seasonal rates are absurd too.
Just got a chance to look at their website. Not ONLY do they charge hefty rental rates, but on TOP of that, there's a $40, non-refundable, reservation fee! OUCH!

Drilling holes for a fence in 90 degree heat is VERY enjoyable.... Mr. Corey learned that he could run into the street or open the door and let the dog run free. When the dog is free, he is GONE. So, we thought we'd put a fence up.
Time to camp? Only 2 more weeks and we are off to Killens for 4 days! (HINT)

But seriously. So far I have not seen any of the NOT welcome dogs with our group and they include, German Shephard, Mastif, Doberman, Rotweiler, Pit Bull, Chow and one or two others whose breed escape me and they did not seem the type to be on the list.
Seems to make perfect sense. With shepherds, mastiffs, and dobies, Ashley would present a choking hazard. :B

Mindy - I haven't been down there...yet, but that's where my daughter lives, since she graduated college in May! Her boyfriend works his "regular" job on base at Cherry Point, and he does his reserve duty out of Seymour Johnson, in Havelock!
Chris, though, usually flies through Pope, and is usually only on the ground long enough to pick up/drop off cargo, gas up, and get over the pond.

Chiggers? THAT explains a LOT! I wore flip flops most of the weekend, but had tennis shoes on while we were in the field, albeit without socks. My feet and ankles got eaten up so badly, it's been a rough week, putting on shoes and socks, then waitressing every night for 6 or 7 hours :( I've gone though almost an entire bottle of After-bite, and a tube of cortisone, and the tootsies are STILL itching like mad! I've got bites on the tops, sides and even along the arch of both feet, not to mention toes, and in between them, and ankles :( Next year, I'm wearing jeans and KNEE socks! LOL! Won't that be stylish? LOL!

Sounds like we need a repeat at Killens NEXT year! Maybe the theme of that gathering can be a trip up the road to Dover Downs for dinner (they have an AWESOME buffet!) and to play the slots? Who knows... maybe ONE of us will become a millionaire - LOL! Can you believe that place is 10 minutes from the house in Dover, and we've NEVER gone there to try the slots? Some day....

OK, I'll start stocking up on more exotic jello flavors for Elk Neck! I think the pineapple with coconut rum was my favorite, but the peach with peach schnapps was yummy, too, as was the black cherry. Any other favorites or requests? We've still got TONS of liquor left, just gotta restock our jello supply, along with the little paper cups - LOL!
